Update Denim With Bleach Splatter Dye
Want to salvage a favorite denim dress or pants? If you have anything denim – dress, pants, shorts, whatever and maybe it’s got a spot that won’t come out, or a bleach spot? This is the perfect solution to make it wearable again. Not only that but it will look like you bought it that way! You may even want to pick up a used denim something at a thrift store to transform.
Here’s how you do it. You will probably want to do this outside where you won’t need to worry about the fumes from the bleach. Also, wear clothes that are already ruined. I keep a set of painting clothes to wear when I paint so choose clothes that are only for working on projects.
What to do:
- Lay your dress flat
- Dip your brush in the bleach and splatter on the dress, concentrating more towards the bottom.
- Let sit for 30 min to let the bleach soak in and change fabric to white.
- Flip and dye back. Add more bleach until desired look is achieved.
- Let sit for a hour, then hand wash. Done!
Use a small craft brush if you only want small patches of white, and a small paint brush if you want large. It’s wise to start with smaller amounts and see the outcome before you start adding more.
