Transform an Armoire Into a Sewing Cabinet
Do you have a good place to keep your sewing machine and all of your sewing “stuff” so it’s neat, organized, and ready to use? Maybe you do, but wouldn’t it be nice to have it in a cabinet like this where it’s tucked away and not seen?
It’s the perfect solution if you don’t have much room and because the armoire doesn’t take up much space, it can fit in just about any room of your house. I see people practically giving away old TV armoires so pick one up that has drawers underneath and is in good shape. All you’ll have to do is put a new back on it and you’re ready to turn it into a sewing cabinet.
Take out any shelving that may be in the top and then construct the fold-up shelf that will be your work table.
What you’ll need:
- 1 piece birch plywood
- 3 piano hinges
- Drop leaf table hardware
- Wooden yardstick (optional)
I love this idea and there are a lot of photos and details of each step. Project source: Lindy Cottage Hill
