How to Make Beautiful Flowers From Used Coffee Filters
You may want to stop throwing your used coffee filters away after you see what beautiful things you can make with them. These flowers are so gorgeous, I am blown away to know what they’re actually made from! Vilma Silveira Farrell is the artist who made these and she uses old filters to make other home decor items as well, like hanging lamps and wall art.
When you’re finished with your coffee, roll the filters up and set them aside to dry. If you want your flowers to be lighter in color, dump all the grounds out first. Leaving the grounds in will make them dry a dark, chocolaty brown. You can also dye them with a water based paint for other color variations, if you wish. When the filters are dry, brush any remaining grounds off.
Supplies you’ll need:
- Coffee Filters
- Canvas to mount your flowers
- Primer
- Construction or heavy stock paper
- Scissors
- Glue
I’ll let Vilma show you exactly how she does it. It’s quite easy and the end result is stunning. Head over to Makezine to see her tutorial and be sure to check out her Etsy shop as well.
