Colorful Braided Rug from Upcycled T-Shirts
As you saw in the video, as your rug progresses you will be continually pushing one of the strips up through the already braided section. This holds the rug together with very few holes.
NOTE: It is important that you don’t braid too tightly as this will cause the rug to bow up. In the video she constantly pulls to stretch it so this doesn’t happen and so the rug will lie flat.
To see how to attach a new strip of material, watch this short video.
When one strip is running out and you need to attach a new one:
1- Fold the end over slightly and cut a small notch. Do the same on the end of the new strip you’ll be attaching.
Note: it’s a good idea to add a different color each time if you want your rug to be colorful.
