3 Ways to Update Your Stairs With Wallpaper

Spread the love

Here’s another option. Paper each riser a different pattern. It’s the approach of having a set of prints on your wall that are all different, yet complementary. They all work together without being monotonous. Allegra Muzillo contributed to Lonnie.com and shared her experience. Here are her results:

Here is how she did it.

  1. Count out and measure each riser. Sound monotonous? Maybe, but riser sizes can differ slightly—and you want to get this right!
  2. Trace out each measurement on the back of the wallpaper and cut it to size, leaving a little extra on all sides to ensure a perfect fit.
  3. Apply craft glue, Mod Podge, or wallpaper paste to each riser as well as the back of the paper, then adhere it to the riser. Be sure to flatten bumps with a brayer or wall covering smoothing tool, paying special attention to the corners.
  4. Trim excess paper with an X-Acto knife. Let the paper dry, and then seal with clear polyurethane.
